Abstract:

During a survey of nematodes on islands in the Western Indian Ocean, four different 'species' of the Xiphinema americanum group were found. Two of these are tentatively identified as Xiphinema diffusum Lamberti & Bleve-Zacheo, 19 79 and Xiphinema pseudoguirani Lamberti, Ciancio, Agostinelli & Coiro, 1992, while the other two do not fit the descriptions of any of the nominal species. One of these is described herein as Xiphinema franci sp. n., while the other is left unnamed. All four forms are illustrated, and their morphometrics tabulated.
