Abstract:

Redescription of M. hagmeieri, type-species of the genus Metepsilonerna, based on the study of populations from the North Sea and the Channel. M. emersum is considered a synonym of the type-species M. hagmeieri. M. lorenzeni sp. nov. is described from the Mediterranean Sea; it is mainly characterized by a large number of non-overlapping annuli with a thick cuticle and wide inner lumen and long spicules. M. hagmeieri sensu Lorenzen 1973 is attributed to the new species M.lorenzeni.
